BELPSORP-mini

The BELSORP-mini measures specific surface area and pore size distribution by volumetric gas adsorption. The BELSORP-mini uses a new method for dead volume measurement that eliminates the need for control of the liquid nitrogen level and greatly simplifies the measurement and increases accuracy and reproducibility. The dedicated software makes the operation and data analysis simple and straightforward. The BELSORP-mini has three measuring ports. Each port has its own pressure sensor allowing for 3 simultaneous measurements on different samples to be made.

New Dead Volume Measurement Method: An Improved Technique

The real advantage of the BELSORP-mini over existing volumetric gas adsorption instruments is the new method of dead volume compensation in the sample tube developed by BEL, Japan. Traditional instruments require that the liquid nitrogen level is kept constant during the measurement. This is unnecessarily cumbersome and can create problems with temperature variations in the top of the tube, rapid liquid nitrogen consumption, and requires a fairly complicated liquid nitrogen handling system.

The BELSORP-mini does not require a constant liquid nitrogen level in the sample tube. The change in dead volume due to changes in the liquid nitrogen level and temperature, and atmospheric temperature are measured in a separate sample tube. In the High-Precision mode this is done at the same time as the measurement, but for the Multi-Sample mode this can be measured prior to the sample measurement. This new method compensates for dead volume changes throughout the whole apparatus and allows high accuracy data to be collected without time consuming and wasteful liquid nitrogen management.

Wide Measurement Range and High Sensitivity

The BELSORP-mini can measure pore sizes of 0.35 to 200 nm in diameter and surface areas as low as 0.01 square meters/g (depending on sample density).

BELPREP-flow™

BELPREP-flow

The BELPREP-flow is the sample pretreatment system for the BELSORP-mini. The sample pretreatment is made by dosing with dry gas and heating up to 500C.
